The Canadian Wheat Board is implementing a flood program to help farmers who are in danger of losing their accepted, on-farm grain due to anticipated flooding this spring.

Farmers with at-risk grain are asked to call the CWB to register for early movement.

At risk areas include the following:

- the Red River watershed from Emerson to Winnipeg
- the Assiniboine River south to the U.S. border, from the Red River Valley west to Deloraine
- the Interlake from Winnipeg to Arborg
- Northwest Saskatchewan, from Kindersley to Prince Albert
- Southeast Saskatchewan, from Lucky Lake east to Yorkton and from Weyburn north to Melfort

Additional rail cars will be allocated to clear elevator space so affected producers can deliver their accepted Series A and B grain. The Board says it expects to move this grain as early as late February or early March.
