Media Release - May 1, 2024

On May 1, 2024, at approximately 12:50 am, officers with the Dauphin RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a disturbance and assault at a residence located on Dunfield Avenue in Dauphin.

Upon arrival, officers observed two male suspects running away from the scene. One suspect stopped when instructed to do so by police and was arrested without incident.

The second suspect was observed carrying what appeared to be a firearm which was discharged towards a residence and then pointed at officers before being dropped. The suspect continued to run but was apprehended by officers after a short foot pursuit.

The firearm was seized and found to be an airsoft gun.

Officers returned to the scene on Dunfield Avenue and located a 17-year-old male with injuries consistent with having been shot by the airsoft gun. He declined medical attention.

The two 16-year-old male suspects, one from Dauphin and the other Brandon, were taken into police custody where they remain.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
