Work continues to convert an old restaurant building in Minto into that community’s new daycare centre.

The Minto Mini Mustang Daycare board is working to raise $285,000 to cover the cost of the project.

Board President Stephanie Robertson said the golf tournament on June 18th attracted 20 teams and 80 golfers. “We had a great turnout and a great day. We raised about $12,000 for the daycare renovation project.”

“We managed to raise that money because of generous donations from sponsors with prizes and we also had a 50-50 draw as well” said Robertson.

The daycare board is still looking for ways to raise another $40,000 to cover the cost of the renovations.

“We’ve done the standard fund raising projects and a few different ones which has gone over very well. Support has been amazing” said Stephanie Robertson.

The former Silver Saddle building is being dry walled then painting and flooring will be the next work to take place with the renovations.

“We hope to be in the new facility by September. We’ll be funded for 20 pre-school spots and four infant spaces. We might take in a few more families. We take in anywhere from 24 to 30 families from Minto and the surrounding area.”

The Minto Mini Mustang Daycare board is also looking at grant options as another way of raising even more money.
