The board of the Mini Mustang Corral in Minto hopes work can start sometime in February on renovation to what will be the daycare’s new home.

Last year the daycare purchased the Silver Saddle Restaurant building with plans of converting that structure into the community’s new daycare centre.

“We want to expand our square footage and to have a more modern building in terms of the age of the structure” said President Stephanie Robertson.

“So far no physical work has taken place but when completed it will be a lay out that is suitable for a daycare and complies with all the standards to be licensed to function. We will be changing the floor plan from what was in the restaurant.”

The new daycare will have the main area which will be an open concept, an infant’s room for kids to nap, a kitchen, staff room and washroom facilities.

“The project will likely cost around $100,000 and we do have enough in reserve to get the work started and we will be busy with fund raising to help pay for the work. We have a lot of young families in the Minto area and there is a need for daycare services for years to come.”

The Mini Mustang Corral has four infant spaces and 16 preschool spots. “Our goal with the new space is to possibly increase preschool spots by a few. The staff will remain the same with seven full and part time workers.

“We hope work can start next month and we can move into the new daycare space this fall” said Stephanie Robertson.
