The Canadian Wheat Board is responding to the increased amount of feed wheat in western Canada by offering Series A delivery contracts for lower-quality wheat.

"There's a clear indication that there will be a significant volume of grain in this quality this year. The Canadian Wheat Board wants to have a good appreciation of what we have to sell on behalf of farmers and that's why we're introducing this program," explains Garry Pichlyck, director of agent relations and farmer systems with the CWB. "It's a direct relationship with the weather conditions...it's turned a lot of the high quality into a lower feed value."

Sign-up for the program will end at the end of the month.

He says although Series A contracts are available, the CWB may also use Guaranteed Delivery Contracts later in the crop year.
