After getting off to an early start at the end of August, growers are falling behind with edible bean harvest.

"I'd like to say we're 50 percent done, but we're probably more like 10 to 15 percent done," says Dennis Lange, agronomist with SaskCan Parent. "We just haven't had enough days in sequence where we've been able to go and take the beans off dry. We just get going and then we get another shower again."

Some growers have been able to work in a day or two of cutting and combining between rains. Conditions have also been drier as you move north in the dry bean growing region, toward the Portage area.

Growers are slowly getting back into the field this week.
