Elton Dunseath, 84, of Winkler formerly of Thompson, passed away Saturday, October 21st at Boundary Trails Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Maggie, 2 daughters, 1 son, 2 stepsons, and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife Florence. 
A celebration of life service for Elton Dunseath will be held Saturday, October 28th at 2pm at Morden Alliance Church with burial prior to the service at noon at Westridge Memorial Gardens, Winkler. 
Viewing will be held at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler Friday from 1 to 8pm. 
Donations may be made to Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.

Elton Argyle Dunseath
Elton Dunseath was born in Dauphin, MB, to William and Eretta Dunseath who were farmers south of Grandview in the district of Tamarisk. He was the eldest of two sons. His younger brother, Allan, died at age 3 in 1947. The family moved into Grandview in 1952. Elton’s family attended the Grandview Pentecostal church where he accepted Christ as his Saviour at the age of 10. Elton learned his admirable work ethic from his parents and had a goal of attending a private christian high school away from home. By age 16 he’d worked enough to reach his financial goal and put himself through grades 10 and 11 at Two Rivers Bible Institute in Nipawin, SK, and later Caronport High School in Caronport, SK, graduating in 1959. Following high school Elton attended Bethel Bible College in Saskatoon, SK.

One evening, at a friend’s home in the fall of 1959, Elton met a lovely young lady, Florence Fleming. They began dating with their first date at a Youth for Christ event in Saskatoon. Their romance continued throughout his time at Bethel and continued after Elton graduated Bible School in 1961. In March of 1962 Elton moved to Thompson, MB, to begin working at the newly opened nickel mine. Elton and Florence married in August of 1962 and together they stayed in Thompson for 45 years.
Elton and Florence were both founding members of the Thompson Pentecostal Assembly, where Elton was a board member, treasurer, and usher. He was also one of the ambitious men who pioneered and built Northern Pentecostal Camp on Setting Lake. Elton worked for INCO as foreman in the Sample House until his retirement in 1993. He later went on to work at H & R Block (in Thompson and then Winkler) preparing taxes for clients for 18 years.

Elton enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends at their cottage located on Setting Lake. Many hours were spent fishing and boating. Elton and Florence moved to Winkler in 2006 and soon started attending the Morden Alliance Church. Most summers were still spent at their cottage on Setting Lake. He also loved to drive, taking great joy going on road trips at first with his truck and trailer and then later hitting the road in the Motorhome. Elton and Florence also took several European vacations together and many sun destination vacations with friends and family. However, their favourite place to be was the beauty of Setting Lake.
Florence passed away in December 2017, which was a difficult time for Elton. A few years later he was fortunate to reconnect with a woman named Maggie Barnett who had been a friend since childhood. They fell in love and were married in April of 2020. Together they have enjoyed three years of marriage. The two enjoyed travelling together visiting family and friends across Canada and the USA. Elton became ill at the end of July and entered hospital at beginning of September. He was surrounded by both family and friends until his death on Saturday Oct 21. Elton’s favorite bible passages include Psalm 121 and John chapter 3 and 14.
Elton was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Florence (Fleming), parents William and Eretta (Hamilton), his brother Allan and sister Margaret Dunseath, brothers-in-law Ron Fleming, Laverne Clary, Edward Barnett, and John Donald. He is also predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law (married) Devey and Lynda Barnett.

He is survived by his wife Maggie (Barnett), daughter Brenda and husband Ned Shuman of Fair Oaks, CA, daughter Donna Dunseath and Chuck Burns of Calgary AB, and his son David and wife Lori of Winkler, MB. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Riise and Camryn Dunseath as well as Matthew and Jonathan Shuman. He will be mourned by Maggie’s two sons Gerald and wife Retta Deslauriers of Grandview, MB, and Chris and wife Debrah Deslauriers of Fairford, MB, and their families, a sister-in-law Ruth Clary of Surry BC, a sister and brother-in-law Myrtle and Bentley Medd of Qualicum BC, a sister-in-law Brenda Fleming of Edmonton, AB, a sister-in-law Ann Barnett, brother and sister-in-law Bert and Loreta Barnett, sister-in-law Ellen Donald all of Grandview, MB, as well as many Hamilton and Dunseath cousins, and Clary, Medd, and Fleming nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday Oct 28, 2023 at the Morden Alliance Church. Public Interment will be prior to service at 12:00 pm at the Westridge Memorial Gardens, Winkler. Donations may be made in Elton’s memory to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
