Farm income in Manitoba reached its highest level in 10 years in 2009 according to a new report from Stats Canada.

The average net operating income after being adjusted for Capital Cost Allowance was $23,334 in '09.

The national average was also the highest in the last decade, at $21,289.

The StatsCan numbers reflect the challenges in the livestock sector. The average Canadian hog farm saw losses of around 22 thousand dollars in 2009. Beef producers, including feedlots, averaged losses near $1,300.

Average net operating income for grain and oilseed operations was near $33,500.
