Today is the final day to cast your vote in the CWB director elections.

Elections are happening in each of the odd numbered districts. District 9 includes most of western Manitoba.

Election coordinator Ian Craven of Meyers Norris Penny says it's important producers follow the procedure outlined in the voting package.

"There's a return envelope in that package. The individual ballot has to be inside that envelope. That envelope is a key part of the security process," he explains.

He explains producers can indicate their top four picks.

"We run the tabulation and if nobody has more than 50 percent, then we go to the individual who got the least number of votes in that round. They drop off the list and you move to the second preference on that ballot. That process continues until someone gets more than 50 percent of the votes."

Producer response has been quite slow during the election. The number of ballots already returned is well below normal levels.

The candidates in District 9 are Ernie Sirski of Dauphin, John Sandborn of Benito and Garry Draper of Lenore. They're looking to replace Bill Nicholson of Shoal Lake, who has served his maximum number of terms.

The results of the vote will be released on December 12th.
