After a couple years off organizers of a charity auction in Waskada are ready to get back down to doing some fund raising.

A Food Grains Charity Auction will be held in Waskada at the Fellowship Community Church November 3rd. Supper will be held at 5:30 with Auction at 7:00.

Dan Meggison helps coordinate the supper and auction. “We tried a grow project several years ago and it didn't seem to get going so somebody on our leadership team came up with the idea of an auction and it still is a variety auction.”

Meggison says they’ve sold everything from live chickens to an Angus heifer, quilts, handi-crafts and baking.

“We’ve had a pretty good harvest here and hopefully people will be generous with less fortunate people.”

The Waskada Foodgrains Supper and Auction has been around for more than 20 years.

“This Thursday we’ll be serving a soup and sandwich type supper starting at 5:30 and the auction of the donated items will get underway at 7:00 pm,” said Dan Meggison.

“It’s nice to bring our community together and I should mention over the years we’ve had a lot of support from the Hutterite Colony at Elgin. They’ve been great supporters in bringing us auction items and supplied us with fresh buns and meat. It has been a really good partnership.”

Previous sales have raised as much as $21,000. For more information on the November 3 auction contact Dan at 658-3486.
