Gun owners in Southwestern Manitoba have a chance to turn in unwanted firearms.

Constable Miles Hiebert is with the RCMP. He says police agencies across the province are conducting a gun amnesty program throughout October.

People are asked to call police and they'll come and pick up the guns or ammunition.

Hiebert says in Manitoba 350 to 400 guns are usually turned in though the amnesty program.
