HENRY KASDORF
February 2, 1972 -March 11, 2023

Henry Kasdorf, aged 51 years, of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
Henry is survived by his wife Tanya, two sons Bauer and Jace; brother Dave (Lesley); sisters Martha (Wayne) and Ruth (Al); sister-in-law Talina (Glen); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer, parents John and Anne, and parents-in-law Tarry and Faye.

Henry was born in Steinbach, Manitoba, on February 2, 1972, and his passion for sports formed shortly thereafter. He played almost every sport imaginable - baseball, basketball, badminton, hockey, golf, track, soccer, and volleyball. You couldn’t have asked for a better teammate as he loved the competition and was a fierce adversary, which became more evident during his lengthy battle with cancer. Henry won many championships during his athletic career, but some of his greatest accolades include provincial volleyball championships as both a player and a coach, Athlete of the Year in his senior year of high school, and receiving the prestigious Peter Dick award for his coaching achievements at the SRSS.
Henry dedicated his life to the service of others. His career focused on the educating and coaching of youth and his passion was building relationships with friends and family. While attending Briercrest College, Henry met the love of his life, Tanya Dahlseide. The connection was instantaneous and after dating for a few years, they married in 1994. They built a beautiful life together with endless moments of love, laughter, and joy. In June of 2003, they were blessed with Jennifer, a beautiful daughter, who was immediately called home to the Lord. Bauer arrived in 2005 and Jace followed in 2010 at the age of three.

Nothing was more important to Henry than family. He loved Tanya and the boys dearly and would do anything to improve their lives. Over the past year, he spent most of his time ensuring they’d prosper when he was gone. This included completing some household renovations, documenting memories, and sharing stories of what was and what is to come. He remained intentional until his final moments, frequently reminding them to chase their dreams and always ending conversations with, “I love you”.
Henry’s faith was strong throughout his life and grew even stronger at the end. During his time at home and in the hospital, he received many visits and messages from family, friends, students, and players, reminding him of how he impacted their lives. When asked how he was doing, the answer was always a positive, “I’m doing good. How are you?” He cared for you and wanted to know about you instead of talking about himself. There was no greater affirmation that Henry’s life was well-lived. We are blessed to have shared life with him and take solace know that he is now at peace, celebrating in Heaven with Jen and his other family members.  He will be greatly missed by us all.

The family would like to express their gratitude for your prayers, support, and unending love for walking with them through this difficult journey. The family would also like to thank Dr. Kim, Dr. Reimer, and the many other doctors and incredible staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre and the Buhler Cancer Centre who made Henry’s final days incredibly pleasant.

A come and go viewing be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from noon to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave, Steinbach, MB, followed by a time of fellowship. The interment will be a private family function.
