The Turtle Mountain Souris Plains Heritage Association's 9th Annual History Seminar is set for Thursday in Deloraine.

The association first held a gathering in 2010 and has been holding regular annual meetings since 2013.

Board member David Neufeld of Boissevain says the group tries to bind people of the region together through their stories. “That was our original intent so that we understand each other. Not only the settler communities but the Metis locals and the Canupawakpa Dakota Nation at Pipestone. They were the originating members, and we want to tell stories of the land.”

“I think it ultimately inspires our young people to look across the community borders to see and hear other people and their stories and to feel a sense of belonging to the region.”

The Mountview Centre in Deloraine will be the host site of the 2023 annual meeting.

David Neufeld says they have a full agenda.
