Heritage Co-op has signed a 5-year agreement for the naming rights of Soccer Field C at the new Maple Leaf Foods Sports Complex.
The outdoor sports complex was officially named the Maple Leaf Foods Sports Complex in mid-September after the City of Brandon entered into a 10-year partnership agreement with Maple Leaf Foods Inc for the naming rights. It will feature a FIFA sized soccer field, up to eight 11 v 11 soccer fields, one dedicated 9 v 9 soccer field, a cricket pitch, a clubhouse with changerooms and washrooms, and 3.6 km of pathways, all located at the corner of First Street and Veterans Way.
With investments from the governments of Canada and Manitoba, the City of Brandon is on track to see the project completed by early 2025.
With the renaming of Soccer Field C to Heritage Co-op Field, Corporate Communications Officer for the City of Brandon, Merrilea Metcalf, says they're very pleased with the partnerships that are developing through sponsorships.
"It's a great way for local businesses to partner with the City of Brandon and together we provide a great service to all residents in Brandon and the surrounding area," shares Metcalf.
"We could not do something of this magnitude alone," she explains. "We have had funding from the federal and the provincial governments. They both see the value of having a sports field complex in Brandon. There isn't one like this in the area. So, it will really serve the residents of Brandon and the surrounding area."
"We're very thankful to have government support as well as the other businesses that are coming on to sponsor the Maple Leaf Foods Sports Complex," she adds.
"Sponsorship is an excellent way to partner with the City of Brandon and promote your business or organization, and the sale of naming rights provides the City with alternate funding sources to benefit the quality of life for residents of Westman," she says.
Metcalf says there are several sponsorship opportunities still available for the various fields and amenities. Businesses or residents who are interested in sponsorship are asked to contact the City of Brandon Parks & Recreation Services at parks@brandon.ca or 204-729-2148.
"We're so thankful for the communities that are joining us in this wonderful project," shares Metcalf. "It really is great for our community, and we're thrilled that Heritage Co-op has entered into this agreement with us. It will be a great partnership for both of us going forward."
