Hilary Penner Obituary

Hilary Christine Penner was born in Edmonton on the 27th of September 1991 and passed away on the 29th of September 2022 at the age of thirty-one.
She is survived by her parents, Douglas and Paulette Penner, sister Hayley and Ryan Boos, grandfather Milton Penner and Veleda Goulden, and the families of her aunts and uncles; Allan and Simone Penner, Keith and Donna Penner, Myron Smuk and Frances Sochasky, Bernice Smuk, Leona and Martin Howbold and Pat and Paul McWilliam.
Hilary enjoyed the love of Patrick Brown and his family; parents John and Diane Brown, sisters Cassandra Brown and Benjamin Aberant, Elissa and brother Rory.
Hilary was predeceased by her grandparents; Paul and Mary Smuk nee Pidsadny and Marlene Penner nee Barkman and one uncle, Ned Smuk.
After graduating from Archbishop Oscar Romero High School she completed a Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Chemistry at the University of Alberta in 2015. She returned to the University of Alberta in 2020 to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Hilary was a kind, generous, loving person and a social butterfly. She readily created and participated in circles of friends from school, her co-op jobs and her career job at Fluid Life. She brought so much good into others lives.
Hilary really raised the bar when it came to chemistry. At university she discovered that chemistry is physics and that physics is difficult. So she befriended the best looking engineer in her class as her study buddy and started a romantic relationship with Pat Brown.
Hilary always set a high bar for herself but this year she couldn’t clear it. It wasn’t that she was weak, it was because she tried to be strong for too long.
Though Hilary had to let go of this world to find peace, we hold on to her memory in our hearts, so she lives forever.
A Viewing will take place at Westlawn Funeral Home (16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton) on Saturday October 8, 2022 starting at 9:00am.  Hilary’s Funeral Service will begin at 10:00am with Reception to follow.
