Mark Humphries started his role as General manager of the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba in early September and he is feeling more at home every day.

He just got through his first major show hosted by the Provincial-Ex and that was Ag-Ex Manitoba’s premier livestock show. “It has been really good, and I’ve been made to feel welcome by all the staff and directors.”

“I’ve come straight off the farm and right here, so it’s brought me right back to my roots and where things started with agriculture and a bit of show business mixed in so I’m really enjoying it.”

Mark Humphries says Ag-Ex is the type of show that lays out what the exhibition is all about.

“When you look at how fairs started it was about animals shows and getting agriculture into town and showing people what everyone could do. For me this is where it all begins and for the education side it’s about keeping it going for the younger generation it’s really important. When you look at the stock in Brandon over the past week it was just tremendous,” said Humphries.

2023 is a big year for the Provincial Exhibition because it will be the 50th year for Ag-Ex.

“There are some positive sounds going that we’re going to have a lot more qualifiers and different types of shows and perhaps even more breeds coming in. So next year is even more exciting.
