Katherine Margaret Derksen
May 7, 1956 – August 7, 2022

It is with loving sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Margaret Derksen at Notre Dame Health Centre on August 7, 2022. She was 66 years of age.
Kathy is predeceased by her parents Abraham and Rosemary Derksen of Morris, MB, brother Bill of Winnipeg, MB and nephew Josh Mazzelli of Victoria BC.
She is survived by sisters Darlene (Roland), Dianne (Joseph), brothers Bob (Rose) and Brian, niece Amanda, nephews Zack, Aaron (Jenna), Bobby, Jacob and great-niece Piper and great-nephews Boston and Guardian.                                      

Kathy was born May 7, 1956 in St. Catherines ON. She faced many challenges in life as she would seizure several times a day due to complications at birth. The family moved to Morris, MB in 1960 where it became apparent that she needed special needs care. Kathy resided in Rosenort, Portage la Prairie, Ninette and then found her forever home at Somerset Villa in Somerset MB. She was well loved and respected in this community. She loved singing, bowling, camping, doing her chores, recycling, the Food Bar, the MCC store, going on holidays and coffee!
Our family would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone and anyone who ever looked after Kathy over the years at the Villa, to the board of Somerset Villa and to the community of Somerset. She was a special angel on earth who touched many lives and hearts and she will be missed.

Memorial Service will be held at the Somerset Food Bar on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment will take place in the Morris Cemetery.
