Several Westman communities have Canada Day festivities planned but one of the larger programs will take place in Killarney.

The Hunter Brothers are set to perform Friday night at the fairgrounds in Killarney. More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the concert.

Killarney-Turtle Mountain Mayor Merv Tweed says the planning and preparing for the Canada Day program has put a charge in the community and really brought people together. “Ticket sales have really taken off in just the last week and it’s just unbelievable. Workers have been setting up for days and we’ve received a lot of positive feed back and look forward to holding a great event.”

The program starts around 9:00am with activities at the beach and will continue throughout the day. Tweed says they have an extra special fire works display lined up for Friday night.

“Tickets are still available and you can get them online, through the Shamrock Centre or at Lewis and Jones. The one things that has already made this a success is the participation of all groups and everybody has given us a hand one way or the other” said Merv Tweed.

Coming out of Covid Tweed says it’s important everyone get together and work on a project that we can say we did it together.

“What we’ve done with many of the groups that have helped us we hope to make a contribution back to their groups once have a clear financial picture.”
