A councillor with the RM of Sifton hosted a meet and greet Monday night in Souris.

Scott Phillips is running for the vacant Western District board seat with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities.

Over 3 dozen delegates, committee chairs, & district staff came out for a meet & greet in the Souris Legion.
“I wanted people to meet their neighbouring councillors & catch up as it’s been a long haul the last few years.  We had updates from the Souris River watershed, southwest weed district, Souris & Hartney doctor recruitment & retention, Souris vet clinic, as well as members expressed what we wish to accomplish at the AMM convention.”

Phillips added health, crime & infrastructure are always a hot topic, but so are lobbying efforts to reopen some MASC offices, increase conservation officers, population retention, transparency & removal of red tape & downloading to municipalities.

Nominations for all AMM district positions will end November 25th and elections, if necessary, will be held November 29th.
