The member of parliament for Brandon-Souris has heard from many constituents and they are having a tough time dealing with the high cost of living.

Larry Maguire says it’s a problem that is a big issue and he believes government spending is part of the problem. “The government spent half a trillion dollars and 40 per cent of that had nothing to do with covid according to the auditor general. Now the scandal of more than $100 million in contracts going to a well-connected Liberal and who actually got the contracts and what they were for.”

Maguire believes the government’s high spending has added to the high cost of food and fuel in Canada. “If they’d of just spent the money on fighting covid we wouldn’t be faced with the high rate of inflation that we are today.”

“We’ve been trying to get them to take the carbon tax of heating fuels and barns and drying gain for farmers and gasoline even before we rose before Christmas. However, the government refuses to look at those. We just need more accountability from the government.”

In April the carbon tax is set to increase again, and Larry Maguire says the government’s goal is to triple it from where it is now.

“If we think inflation is bad now it’ll be a lot worse if they’re allowed to triple the carbon tax which our leader says we would do away with and there are better incentives to bring down greenhouse gases by allowing the technology of major industries to be developed as they’re doing presently without the taxation of individual Canadians.
