Our Dad was born in Cuauhtemoc, Mexico. On March 17, 1951, to Jacob and Susanna Dyck. He grew up in the communities of Compo 67 and 88. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith on June 9, 1971, and married the love of his life Katharina Heinrichs, on July 25, 1971.
Dad and Mom took and moved their family Bolivia for a short period of 11 months in 1979 -1980 where there was a son born during that time there. Due to the very hard times in Bolivia, Dad and Mom decided to pack up their family and moved back to Mexico to continue moving forward with their lives. In1986 they again packed up their family and made their way up Ontario, Canada. We lived there for about two months and then came to Manitoba and settled down in between, Grunthal and Steinbach. Currently living in the town of Grunthal.

During Dad's growing up years he had a very close brother (Uncle Cornie) that he enjoyed doing horseback back riding, training horses in front of wagons and bronc riding donkeys on top the composted manure pile where the landing would be soft. About three years ago his brother passed away and it really broke our Dad's heart on which he commented in German (Nu has me hier allein gelatin). Also at the grave side, Dad said,"we will see each other soon". On February 7,2024, Dad, your wish was granted.
Dad was a very hard working man and took care of his family the best he new how. Being quite poor and raising a large family did not come without sacrifice, and yet always willing to help out the next person.
He especially enjoyed working along his love (Our Mom) butchering pigs together as a livelihood, they had a system going that worked out so good for them, if his health would have allowed him, he would still be doing it.

Our Dad had a bypass heart surgery in 2004 from which he recovered very well, but it seemed like his breathing was never quite the same since. He found out six years ago that he had a respiratory disease called COPD, on August of 2023, he was diagnosed with a severe case of Pneumonia which cause him to go on fulltime oxygen, it was very hard to see him fighting for every breath he took. In 2020 he was also diagnosed with lung cancer which also contributed to his breathing problems. During the last week here on this earth he shared some wonderful testimonies about his salvation to his family and friends. One of the testimonies he shared is about being saved by grace alone and not by works, he acknowledged that his works were not enough to save him, only by God's grace had he been saved. He had a great love for Jesus and a great longing to be with his Lord and Savior. The last words before he slipped into a coma is another great assurance for the family left behind are," (Jesus, wo schon ") meaning Jesus how wonderful!!
Martin Dyck went to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully, at his home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 2:44am. He reached an age of 72 years, 10 months, 21 days.
Martin is survived by his loving wife, Katharina Dyck, and ten children and their families. Jacob (Olga), Sara (Bernie), Susie (Henry), Henry (Anna), Tina (Cornie), David (Linda), Johnny (Kathy), Anna (Stan), Helen (Peter), Lisa (Bernie), 51 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
