The lower oil price have had a direct impact on the amount of business being done in and around Melita.

Mayor Bill Holden says there's no question there are fewer vehicles in the region because there's less activity in the oil patch.

Holden hopes things will turn around for the workers and businesses that deal with the oil patch and its people but he says they just have to move forward.

Holden points out farming is still a big economic driver in the region. The hope now is that moisture doesn't cause any problems this year and farmers can get all of their land seeded this spring.

"We've had a number of producers unable to get all their land seeded or harvested over the past number of years."
