The Heritage Home for the Arts is inviting area artists to showcase their artwork at the first annual 'Members Art Exhibit' November 4-26th.

"It's a time for anyone who is a member of the Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council to submit a piece to us and we will put it in that show to exhibit," shares Art Administrator, Jane Ireland.  "If you're a little nervous about doing a Fall exhibition, and you just want to test the waters, dip your toe in and see what the response would be to your work, this is the perfect time to do it!"

Ireland says she's looking forward to filling the gallery rooms with local artwork.  "This is not a juried art show," she notes. "It's first-come-first served and as soon as a I fill the walls, I'll have to start saying 'no' so I would suggest that if you want to try getting your piece out there and see what a public reaction would be, to contact me as soon as possible."

Not only is the art exhibition open to flat art, (including photography, canvas painting, drawing, etc) but also to 3-dimensional pieces.

"We have the ability to put things on the wall and lots of plinths (a tall square-shaped platform to showcase 3-D work) and we have covers to protect the art," explains Ireland.  "We also have the ability to do outside art.  So, if someone has a piece they'd like to show outdoors we can do that. Whatever your art is, we will try to accommodate it."

The 'Members Art Exhibit' reception will be held on Saturday, November 5th where the public and the artists can enjoy an evening of 'meet and greet'.

"This is a great time for all the artists to come and see people experiencing the art," she adds. "If you talk to any of the artists who we've had an opening reception for, I think that's what they find most exciting, is watching people look at their art, and their reactions but also talking to them and giving them an idea of their vision, and why they made that piece and what it means to them.  That's a fabulous part about going to any exhibition; if you get a chance to meet that artist, that's the added value!"

The submission period for this year's show is October 7 to 21, 2022.  If you would like to submit a piece of original artwork for the exhibition, please contact Arts Administrator, Jane Ireland, for a submission form and information on how to proceed. Again, Ireland reminds us that all participants must be a member of the Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council and membership dues can be received when submitting your submission form.

They will need the following:

1.        If you require wall space or a plinth for your piece

2.       The size and medium used

3.       An artist statement and short biography

4.       A head shot of the artist

"We will do our best to accommodate every submission but as the wall and floor space is limited, submissions will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.  Don’t be disappointed, submit your information early!" shares Ireland.

Artwork will need to be dropped off at the gallery no later than November 1, 2022 and picked up no later than November 29, 2022.

The exhibition opening will take place on Saturday, November 5 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The exhibition will run from November 4 to 26, 2022 at the Heritage Home for the Arts, Killarney.
