The Minto Bonspiel usually takes place in late January but last month it was postponed because of the public health orders.

Organizers were hoping to get back on track and hold the event this winter but it now appears that wont be the case.

“We have natural ice and are simply running out of time because we have some rentals and wouldn’t be able to hold the bonspiel until the second weekend of March” said Hannah Beghin with Minto’s Recreation Facilities committee.

“At this moment we’re thinking it will not be a go. It’s fully up to the weather and if the weather holds out for us there is still a small chance we will go ahead.”

Beghin says they’ll have to decide by around March 1st whether or not the bonspiel will be a go. “We could get things together in about a two week period. We need to get volunteers lined up for serving meals but they way it looks now it probably isn’t going to happen.”

“At the time we said no to the event we couldn’t hold a social and if restrictions are heading the direction they appear and it stays cold we just might be able to hold the bonspiel and a social gathering.”
