The Minto Mini Mustang Daycare is raising money for a new renovation project.  They've purchased the former Silver Saddle Restaurant and plan to turn it into their new daycare centre.

Stephanie Robertson is the President of the Minto daycare board.  She says they're excited to be moving to a larger facility, which will allow them to care for more children.

"We serve primarily families from the Minto community, but we also serve families from surrounding communities like Boissevain, Killarney and Elgin.  We have well over 25 families that could use our day care services so we need a bigger space so that we can expand our services at this new location."

With the larger facility they will be able to care for 20 preschool children and 4 infants.

Fundraising efforts will continue throughout the summer, and Robertson says everyone is invited to the Boissevain Golf Course on June 18th.

The tournament is an 18-hole, four-person scramble with on-course contests, raffle prizes up for grabs, and supper.

"We have been very fortunate to have some very generous donations so far," explains Robertson.  "The cost of the project is obviously quite significant and we have about $50,000 of the project in.  Our total project cost is about $200,000."

"We've had larger donations from the Sunrise Credit Union in Boissevain and also Fraser Seeds in Minto," she adds.

Renovations are well underway, says Robertson.  "The whole place is basically gutted and there's some electrical and plumbing work, but I'd say we were about half way done.  We're hoping to be in the new building by the beginning of the new school year."
