This frigid winter has been good for community rinks with natural ice and that includes the Minto Recreation Centre.

Earlier this month organizers of the annual Minto Bonspiel announced due to covid the curling was postponed. They hope by the first week of March restrictions will allow them to hold the event.

Hannah Beghin is a member of the Minto Recreation Facilities Committee.

“Right now at the rink we have the skating club using the rink every evening. Then public skating is a little more difficult because you have to track vaccination status but there are children out there using it.”

“We even have people renting the ice with people wanting to get out and play scrimmage hockey against each other.”

Hannah Beghin says the committee appreciates groups and people renting and using the ice in Minto.
