The seventh annual Manitoba Junior Hockey League Showcase weekend will begin tonight at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg. The event has been moved to the new venue after previously being hosted at the Dakota Community Centre.

MJHL Commission Kim Davis says the event has been a great success over the years and has a central purpose of bringing all 11 teams in the league together. It gives every player in the league an opportunity to show their skills infront of numerous scouts from the NHL, NCAA, CIS, WHL, and countless other leagues across North America.

Davis says that having this extra exposure has help a lot on recent years in getting players out of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League drafted into the NHL with Sean Collins (Waywayseecappo) along with Brendan O'Donnell and Peter Stoykewich (Winnipeg Blues) all being drafted in the past few years.

Matt Friesen spoke with Commissioner Davis about preparations for the showcase weekend.
