The North American Game Warden Museum held a ceremony on August 25th to remember conservation officers and game wardens who have made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty.
The museum opened in May of 2005 and has become a centralized collection point for significnat items from the profession.
The remembrance ceremony this year honoured two game wardens, one from Washington and one from Louisiana. Paul Stuckey and Margaret Anderson were both gunned down by poachers.
Gary Provencher is a conervation officer in Saskatchewan and a member of the museum board. He says it is important each year to remember officers who have died on the job. "Over the years many fine people have died both accidentaly and some at the hands of criminals."
This year's program included a lowering of the Canada and United States flags and laying of wreaths.
The museum board is in the process of raising funds to expand the museum.
