The ongoing public health orders make it difficult for groups like museum boards that are trying to plan for the summer tourism season.

In Boissevain there are three museums including the Irvin Goodon Wildlife, Beckoning Hills and Moncur Gallery.

Boissevain-Morton Head of Council Judy Swanson stressed the importance of museums and what they do for a community.

“We just had that discussion and we are applying for grants for students as we plan for opening. However it all depends on what covid does.”

When museums can’t open Swanson calls it a huge hit and a big blow for a town’s tourism. “We will move as soon as we can and we have to be safe while following the provincial guidelines. We’re hoping things will lift and we’re up and running again.”

“Our museums are being run by separate boards but eventually they’ll probably fall under one. But at the moment there are separate boards and we are working with those boards to see.” said Judy Swanson.
