The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation has launched a new campaign to support the Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) expansion project currently under construction.

The goal of 'A Foundation for Care' capital campaign is to raise $2 million to support the build project of the BRHC's new Critical Care building, as well as to purchase necessary equipment.

“Prairie Mountain Health sincerely appreciates and acknowledges the dedication and commitment of the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation towards the new Critical Care building that will further strengthen and enhance patient care.” says Treena Slate, CEO of Prairie Mountain Health.  “We are extremely fortunate to have such a strong, supportive health stakeholder like the BRHC Foundation, which has a well-established and highly regarded history of supporting projects that benefit Westman and the entire health region. On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, physicians and volunteers, we sincerely thank you for this generous contribution.”

'This expansion will provide BRHC healthcare staff with additional space and better equipment to meet the increasing demands of our healthcare system in Westman and will improve overall patient care," states the Foundation's most recent media release. 'Any additional funds received over the campaign goal will be allocated to the areas of greatest need, as determined by the BRHC Foundation Board of Directors.'

“The Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation is honored to take part in a campaign that will directly benefit the citizens of Brandon and its surrounding areas.” says Joanne Campbell, Chair of the BRHC.

BRHC Foundation Communication & Development Coordinator, Jessica Saler, says they've already been accepting donations for this new capital campaign, but the official launch is to focus on this fundraiser and to share their invite with the public to partner with them.

"With this campaign we get to help out with not only the equipment but also the over-all build itself," explains Saler. "So, we really get to make our mark on what this one is really becoming, and we really get to see the growth. I know a lot of people are seeing with the traffic loop currently closed for the summer, and there are a lot of people who are kind of frustrated with that.  But it is exciting, and it is working towards this new build that's really going to help make a difference to meet the demands of our health care system in Westman and just improve over-all impatient care."

"With the BRHC supporting the entire region it is really important that we have a Critical Care Centre that is able to keep up with the increasing demands," she adds.

Saler says once the list of necessary equipment is determined by Prairie Mountain Health they can begin to fill the wish list for the new Centre.  "That being said, the Foundation is more than willing to help share that equipment list once we receive it."
