A water-shed management plan for the West Souris River Conservation District should be in place by spring. Chair Lloyd Atchison says the province seconded away the planner first working on the project, so now a new planner is taking it over which will be presented to the public shortly. He highlights what the plan could look like.

Meanwhile, the Conservation District is one of 6 sharing a piece of the 150 thousand dollar provincial funding announcment this week. The District will see 25 thousand dollars that will be used to partner with landowners to improve seven high-priority sites along the banks of the Souris River by installing fencing, providing off-site watering systems and planting native trees.
