With the current flood forecast issued for the City of Brandon, an 8 foot dike would need to be constructed at the Wheat City Golf Course in order to save it from flood waters.

Therefore the City has made the decision not to extend it's efforts to prevent dike overtopping at the course.
General Manager of Operational Services Rod Sage explains why.

Sage adds if the flood forecast improves before spring something may be able to be done at the course.
He notes the main priority is 5 kilometres of dike system that protects residential and business properties along the riverbank corridor.
