Ontario has captured the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge for the eighth time. Sean Monahan scored twice and Mathew Campagna scored on a penalty shot with 4:02 left in the third period as Ontario downed the United States 5-3 in the gold medal game at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Kerby Rychel and Brendan Gaunce also scored for Ontario who lost 2-1 to the Americans in the 2010 gold medal game in Timmons. Quentin Shore, Miles Koules and Patrick Sieloff replied for the Americans. Ontario had a 3-1 lead after the first period and 3-2 after forty minutes.

Team Pacific won the bronze medal game. Brandon Magee scored 1:34 into overtime to lift Team Pacific past Quebec 5-4.
