The lawyer representing the Notre Dame-area couple facing animal cruelty charges says the defendants will not be entering a plea until they have a chance to review all of the crown's evidence.

Martin and Dolores Grenier appeared in provincial court last week and are now scheduled to appear again on February 3rd in Winnipeg.

The couple is facing 23 animal cruelty charges under the Provincial Animal Care Act, while Martin Grenier has been charged with six counts of animal cruelty under the Criminal Code of Canada.

RCMP and representatives from the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer raided the farm in June and discovered hundreds of dead or dying hogs. The barn burned down a few days later in a fire that is still under investigation by the Fire Commissioner.
