One of the candidates in the Canadian Wheat Board director election in district 9 says the biggest election issue so far is that certain candidates have not openly declared their position on the CWB's single desk.

"Not all candidates are voicing their open market or single-desk support. That seems to have created a bit of a stir among voters. Want it boils down to is that a lot of people are looking for that information, " says Lenore-area producer Garry Draper. "It's certainly a big part of what voters base their vote on."

Draper says there seems to be less discussion and controversy in this election than in previous contests.

"It seems to be awfully quiet. Because it's a long process and with the limited amount of money that we can spend, you sort of have to pick and choose your places where you can do your advertising and campaigning," he says.

Ballots must be postmarked no later than midnight on Friday (December 3rd). Election results will be announced December 12th.

All three candidates are sharing their views on the Manitoba Farm Journal this week. Draper joined Kelvin Heppner on Tuesday afternoon. Ernie Sirski of Dauphin will share his message for voters on Wednesday's MFJ. An interview with John Sandborn of Benito will air on Thursday's farm show.
