Westman Youth for Christ is holding their first art exhibit/sale next week! Everyone is invited to support their Create youth art program!
This is your personal invitation from the YFC Westman team:
'I wanted to extend a personal invitation to you, your friends, family, and associates to attend our upcoming fundraiser. Westman Youth for Christ/Youth Unlimited is hosting an art exhibition and sale at the lovely Firehall Event Venue to raise funds for our Create program on May 25th and 26th," shares Executive Manager/Create Leader Dawn Redlin, "Doors will be open from 6:30pm-9:30pm each evening.
Tickets are $25 each and are available at our office - 1228 Rosser Ave - 2nd Floor during regular business hours, or Thursday May 18th we will be at the community booth in Shoppers Mall Brandon from 10am -8pm with tickets as well. If you have a group of 10 or more people wanting tickets, I could also deliver tickets to you within city limits. Your ticket will allow you entry to the event as well as a glass of wine or punch and a cheese and cracker plate provided by Joe Beeverz catering. The event is called "In Black and White" and all of the art on display will follow that theme. We have many Manitoba artists, and even one from Saskatchewan, taking part in the event. Our participants range in age and skill; and all of the artists are so excited to have you come and see their work. At least 30% of all art sales at the event will go directly to supporting at risk youth through creative programming in our community, and artists will receive up to 70% of the sale of their art work. (Artists can choose to donate some or all of their portion of sales to the Create program)
Create is a community art program for at risk youth aged 17-29. We currently meet once a week and provide a meal and art programming free of cost to all who attend. We are raising funds to be able to continue the current program and to expand to offer individual and a small group therapeutic art coaching. Many studies have shown the benefits of art and other creative activities on mental health and healing from trauma. Many of the youth in our city are suffering and this program provides a safe space to explore and heal. Since the start of Create in 2019 we have had over 95 individual youth access the program and we want to help even more youth.
Come out for a wonderful evening of art, music, snacks and drinks, and support local artists and local youth who benefit greatly from this program. We hope to see you there.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like further information. If you are unable to attend, I totally understand, however if you would share this information with others in your circles who may be interested that would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a poster that you are welcome to share as well.
