The following is the RCMP report to April 5, 2022.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EMPLOYERS OF YOUTH:

The Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), section 119 (1) defines who has the authority to request and access youth records:

1.    A youth may request and access their own criminal records (Section 119 (1)(a) YCJA).

2.    Federal, provincial or municipal government agencies may request and have access to youth criminal records for the purposes of employment and volunteer services.  (Section 119 (1) (o) YCJA).  

3.    A youth and the RCMP may not disclose a youth criminal record to anyone who is not authorized under Section 119 of the YCJA.   Private employers/agencies/organization are not authorized and further disclosure is contrary to Section 129 of the YCJA. 

 

March 29, 2022

Police received a report of a fraud in Killarney where money was sent to the scammers.  The matter is under investigation.

Police assisted with a medical call in Killarney.

 

March 30, 2022

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney that occurred sometime in the past two months.  No evidence found and the matter remains unsolved.

Police received a report of a scam on Facebook messenger.

Police received a report of a female failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.  The matter is being investigated.

 

March 31, 2022

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police were called about an injured cat in Killarney.  The cat was taken to the local vet.

 

April 1, 2022

Police received a report of a break and enter in Boissevain.  The matter is under investigation.

Police did a COVID compliance check in Cartwright.

 

April 2, 2022

Police received a report of utter threats in Goodlands.  The matter is under investigation.

 

April 3, 2022

Police received a 911 call from a male who advised that he is currently down at Williams Lake.  He was riding a bike, got stuck and was now by the campground office.  Police attended, located, and spoke to the male.  The male was cold, and the pedal bike got stuck in snow. He was not dressed for weather, so police gave him a ride back to Boissevain. 

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police received a 911 call regarding an assault in Cartwright.  Police attended and spoke with all parties separately.  Verbal argument took place.  Parties agreed to remain apart for the rest of the evening and advised to call police if anything arises.

 

April 4, 2022

Police received a report of a theft of vehicle over night in Killarney.  The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a suspicious male in the Boissevain-Morton area.  The matter is under investigation.

There will be a new process for criminal record checks.  Please call either Killarney (204) 523-7293 or Boissevain/Deloraine (204) 534-7262 and provide your e-mail address and phone number.  The criminal record check forms will be emailed to you to be filled out.  Complete and return by mail with a $10 money order made out to the Receiver-General; or a letter stating you are a volunteer.  The mailing address for Killarney RCMP is Box 490, Killarney, MB  R0K 1G0 and Boissevain RCMP is Box 25, Boissevain, MB R0K 0E0.  

 

Reminders:

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain RCMP will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Deloraine RCMP will be open April 8 and April 12 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE (204) 523-7255 or 911.  The administration line may not be checked until the following day or possibly the Monday following a weekend.  Members may be in another community or on the road.
