The following is the RCMP report to June 14, 2022.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

Killarney/Boissevain/Deloraine Detachment

Please be advised that Boissevain and Deloraine Detachments do not have an administration person.  Please call Killarney Detachment to file a complaint or apply for criminal record checks. 

Call 204-523-7293 Killarney for administration requests.   The Killarney office can be contacted for criminal record checks, complaints, hit and run reports etc.  Criminal record checks may take up to 4 weeks so PLAN ACCORDINGLY.  In the event of an emergency, call 911 or 204-523-7255. 

If you need to speak with a police officer immediately or to report to police in accordance with your court ordered conditions, please call 204-523-7255. 

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.


June 1, 2022

Police received a report of mischief in Deloraine.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders Act in Killarney.


June 2, 2022

Police received a report of speeding in the Brenda-Waskada area.  More patrols will be done in the area.


June 3, 2022

Police were dispatched to a tractor fire in the Grassland Municipality.  Police were advised they were pulling a disker in the field when he saw smoke coming from the motor, he got out, they went for a fire extinguisher, but it was too late and it was fully engulfed. Nothing suspicious and no injuries were sustained.  

Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in Killarney.

Police received a report of an impaired driver near Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

Police were asked to do a well being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.


June 4, 2022

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Minto. A man the complainant believed worked for an alarm company came to the home and examined the fuse panel. The complainant called the alarm company and they informed her there was no technicians in that area. The complainant then said two days later the garage door opened by itself while they were at work. No one was there, nothing was taken and they remotely closed it. Police advised the complainant to visibly see the work order, ask for some type of ID as well as they should have a contact for a supervisor if they are unsure of who it is coming to the home. The complainant can’t describe the man, man did have a work order with him from an alarm company, no video surveillance.


June 6, 2022

Police received a report of a break and enter to the golf course at Hartney and the golf course in Cartwright.  Two males have been arrested and charged.  One male was remanded into custody.

Police did a well being check on a male in Killarney.  Everyone located safe.
 

June 7, 2022

Police received a report of a break, enter and theft in Killarney on Clark Street.  The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Killarney.  The complainant was given advice on how to obtain a peace bond.

Police received a report of stolen fuel at a farm property in the Deloraine-Winchester area. 

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Ninette.

Police received a 911 call of what sounded like rifle shots coming from the town of Hilton. Unable to verify origin of the suspicious sounds.


June 8, 2022

RCMP were dispatched to the Boissevain Canada Border Services port.  Police attended and arrested a male subject with 2 unendorsed warrants from Winnipeg. The male was transported and lodged at the Killarney RCMP Detachment pending Crown consultation.  The male was later released on a Release Order.

Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act.

Police received a report of public mischief.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
 

June 9, 2022

Police received a 911 call in Ninette. Police attended and arrested an intoxicated male who was lodged for the night and released the following morning.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders and Agreements Act in Boissevain.

Police received a report of a female who was failing to abide by conditions.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
 

June 10, 2022

Police received a report of gravel trucks speeding through Neelin.  More patrols will be done in the area.

Police did Covid compliance checks in Holmfield.

Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in Deloraine.

RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Mountain Ave in Killarney.  Officers located the vehicle and when they attended to speak with the owner, who was not home, they observed another truck blocking the driveway to the residence.  The plate number on this truck was queried and found to be reported stolen from Rossburn.  With the assistance of West District CREST unit, the investigation that afternoon led to the arrest of an 18 year old from Killarney and 23 year old from Deloraine.  A search warrant was executed at the residence on Mountain Avenue where officers located an unsecured firearm as well as numerous stolen items including liquor, chainsaws, tools, chargers, batteries, clothing, keys to golf carts and keys to cash register.  This stolen property has been linked to break and enter reports from golf courses located in Deloraine, Cartwright, Rossburn, Russell, Shoal Lake and Rocanville, SK.  23 year old male from Deloraine was remanded into custody on numerous charges including breaking & entering x 7, possession of stolen property and fail to comply with a release order x 2.  The 18 year old male was released for court scheduled September 13, 2022 in Killarney where he will appear on charges of possession of stolen property and unauthorized possession of a firearm.  Killarney RCMP continue to investigate.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Boissevain-Morton area.  The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of three young people (10-12) were walking on the highway and sticking their thumbs out hitch hiking. The complainant wanted to advise that they looked young and it seemed suspicious that they were out hitch hiking at that age. Police attended immediately, but could not locate the three youth. Complainant was phoned and advised that the subjects were gone.
 

June 12, 2022

Police received a report of a disturbance on Broadway Avenue in Killarney.  A male and female were heard yelling and screaming and possibly intoxicated. The caller thought the couple had a no contact order but this came back negative. No one answered the door and the caller did not want to make a statement. Later police received a 911 hang up call from the same location.  Police attended and spoke with a male and female. The female called because she believed the male hid her phone on her.  No evidence of a fight and was not police related.  The female was educated on the proper use of 911 and police ensured she had access to a land line in case she needed police.

Police received a report of an unknown person who stole the complainants truck while he was cutting grass.  The truck was added to CPIC as stolen and the following morning, another complainant reported that he came across a motor vehicle accident at the turn off of Hwy #3 and Hwy #21 near Deloraine and transported a male to Hospital who was in the stolen truck. Police attended the hospital and identified the male who was not taken into custody as he was taken to Brandon Hospital for medical follow up.  The matter is under investigation. Charges are pending.
 

June 13, 2022

Police received a report of a disturbance in Waskada.  Police attended, spoke with both parties, no violence reported.  A female and two children were transported to a motel. 

Police received a report of a theft of fuel in the RM of Argyle.  The matter is under investigation.

RCMP were called to an assault in Waskada.  The complainant declined to press charges.
 

June 14, 2022

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in Boissevain that occurred within the last two weeks.  The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of mischief in Ninette.
 

June 15, 2022

Police received a report of a break and enter in Deloraine.  The matter is being investigated.

Turtle Mountain area is having lots of motor vehicle thefts!! The vast majority of these thefts are due to keys being left in the vehicle overnight.  PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE KEYS IN YOUR VEHICLES.  It's not like the good ole days, when you could leave things with keys in them or unlocked  in town or on the farm. 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.
