The following is the RCMP report to June 16, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 31 traffic violations

- 12 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

-   7 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 21 crimes against property 

-   5 other criminal code

-   3 crimes against person

-   2 traffic accidents

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

May 30, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Boissevain. Police attended and determined there was nothing criminal in nature occurring and the person did not require any assistance. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. The vehicle had been reported stolen and the matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a theft in Boissevain. The complainant declined to proceed with charges.

Police received a report of possession of property obtained by crime in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Argyle. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Boissevain. The complainant declined to proceed with charges.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Boissevain. Police located the subject and provided assistance. The matter was concluded.

 

June 1, 2024

Police received a report of an intoxicated person laying on the road in Deloraine. The male was arrested and lodged until sober.

Police received a report of fraud in Ninette. The complainant had sent money for an item on Facebook marketplace but was provided a fake address for pick up. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. There were no injuries to report.

 

June 4, 2024

Police received a report of a fraud in Deloraine. The complainant was directed to purchase gift cards in order to cover fees included with said scam. The complainant did not purchase the gift cards and no money was lost however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a break and enter in the RM of Argyle. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of harassment in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant, providing them with options moving forward.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The complainant was not cooperative with police therefore there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

June 5, 2024

Police received a request to assist another agency in Killarney. Assistance was provided and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Boissevain. Upon arrival, police spoke to all parties involved and the matter was unfounded.

 

June 6, 2024

Police received a report under the tobacco tax act. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the customs act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. After further investigation, it was determined police were not required and the matter was unfounded.

 

June 7, 2024

Police received a report of fraud in Cartwright. The complainant had e-transferred funds for a Facebook marketplace item that was not received. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a fraud in the RM of Argyle. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Deloraine. Police followed up with all parties involved and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Boissevian. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report under the child welfare act in Boissevain. The matter was concluded.

 

June 8, 2024

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Hartney.

Police received a report of an assault in Fairfax. The complainant declined to proceed with charges, so the matter was concluded.

 

June 9, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for mischief in Killarney. A female was arrested and lodged until sober.

 

June 10, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Waskada. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to an abandoned 911 call in Killarney. Police were not required, and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call under the 911 act in Hartney. Police were able to speak with the parties involved and it was determined police were not required.

Police responded to another call under the 911 act in Hartney. Police confirmed members were not required.

Police responded to a 911 call for a family dispute in Ninette. A male was arrested and released on an appearance notice to appear in court at a later date.

 

June 11, 2024

Police received a report of disobeying order of court in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Boissevain. A male was arrested and lodged until sober.

 

June 12, 2024

Police received a report under the family orders and agreements act in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of fraud in Boissevain. While on their computer, the complainants screen went black and directed them to call Microsoft. The complainant phoned the number provided and was asked to provide their personal information including bank account information. Bank account information was not provided, and no money was lost. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a wellbeing check request in Deloraine from another agency. The subject did not live at the provided address. Police followed up with the parties involved and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Argyle. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

 

June 13, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for a missing person in Boissevain. The person was located safe, and police were no longer required.

 

June 14, 2024

Police received a report under the municipal bylaws act. The matter was reviewed, and the file was concluded.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Killarney.

Police responded to an abandoned 911 call in Killarney. Police were able to follow up with the caller and confirm it was a pocket dial and police were not required.

Police responded to a call for a traffic collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Boissevain. All parties were safe, and the complainant was updated.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Killarney. Upon arrival, the complainants were uncooperative with police. The matter is under investigation.

 

June 15, 2024

Police received a report of an abandoned 911 call in Deloraine. Police attended and located the caller who confirmed it was a pocket dial.

Police received a report of a neighbor dispute in Deloraine. Police followed up with the complainant however it was not a police matter, and the file was concluded.

Police responded to a call for a traffic collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Killarney. The complainant refused to provide a statement to police therefore the matter was concluded due to insufficient evidence.

 

June 16, 2024

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Deloraine. Upon arrival it was determined police were not required.

Police received a call to assist another agency in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police attended and provided assistance where necessary.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Hartney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Goodlands. All parties were located safe.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
