The following is the RCMP report to October 26, 2021.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

October 19, 2021

Police arrested a male in Killarney who was in possession of a stolen car out of Winnipeg.  The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Killarney.  The matter was unfounded.

October 20, 2021

Police received a report of a suspicious person at 3:45 a.m. in Boissevain ringing a resident's doorbell.  Patrols were made around Boissevain with negative results for any persons walking around.  The resident was advised to keep all doors locked.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

October 21, 2021

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney.  The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in Killarney.  A youth was issued a police caution under Youth Criminal Justice Act.

October 22, 2021

Police received a 911 call of a vehicle in Killarney Lake by the bridge off Park Street.  Police and fire attended, no one in the vehicle which was in about 2 feet of water.  Tire marks show the vehicle took the curve too wide and was possibly speeding.  The registered owner was no where to be found.  A family member advised that he picked up the owner last night.  The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act

Police received a report of the Canada Border Service Scam in Killarney.  No financial loss and no personal or bank information was provided.  Reported for information purposes.

Police received a report of lost keys at the Killarney Beach.  If anyone has found the keys, please call the Killarney RCMP.

Police received a compliant under the Municipal By-laws in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area.

RCMP received a report of the complainant driving northbound on Highway 18, following a Chevy with unknown license plate, pulling a flat deck trailer. Vehicle is all over the highway, almost hitting the ditch, and pulled onto the shoulder to allow vehicles to pass. Vehicle is back on the highway. Police attended and spoke with the driver. No signs of impairment were detected and the complainant was updated.

Police received a report of a possible chemical leak in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area.  The complainant advised that he could smell ammonia.  Police received an update from the Fire Department who was on scene, and they advised that they found a very small leak, and that ambulance and police could stand down.

October 23, 2021

Police received a report of a female disturbing the peace in Killarney.  The matter was resolved.

Police received a complaint under the municipal by-laws in Killarney-Turtle Mountain.  The home owner was spoken to about parking in the area and the matter was resolved.

Police received an animal complaint in Hartney where dogs may have been abused.  The matter has been forwarded to the animal care line and is under investigation.

October 24, 2021

Police received a report of extortion in Killarney.  The caller was educated on these online scams and told to report the incident to Canadian Antifraud Centre.

October 25, 2021

Police received a report of a suspicious call that appeared to be coming from a local Killarney number and when the youth answered it, the caller wanted to know how old they were and what they were doing.  When the phone was taken by the parent, the caller would not answer any questions.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed but determined no criminal intent.

Police received a report of missing cattle and believes they may have been stolen.  Appears 1 cow and 2 calves are missing from the pasture, solid black Angus cow & calves. The fence was intact and the rest of the cows are all present.  Police spoke with the complainant, they have checked with neighbors, no one has seen them. The matter is under investigation.

There will be a new process for criminal record checks.  Please call either Killarney (204) 523-7293 or Boissevain/Deloraine (204) 534-7262 and provide your e-mail address and phone number.  The criminal record check forms will be emailed to you to be filled out.  Complete and return by mail with a $10 money order made out to the Receiver-General; or a letter stating you are a volunteer.  The mailing address for Killarney RCMP is Box 490, Killarney, MB  R0K 1G0 and Boissevain RCMP is Box 25, Boissevain, MB R0K 0E0.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain RCMP will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
