The following is the RCMP report to September 12, 2022.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 14 traffic violations

- 21 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 26 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 25 crimes against property

- 6 other criminal code

- 4 crimes against persons

- 2 traffic collision

- 1 Quarantine Act violation

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Killarney/Boissevain/Deloraine Detachment

Please be advised that Boissevain and Deloraine Detachments do not have an administration person.  Please call Killarney Detachment to file a complaint or apply for criminal record checks. 

Call 204-523-7293 Killarney for administration requests.   The Killarney office can be contacted for criminal record checks, complaints, hit and run reports etc.  Criminal record checks may take up to 4 weeks so PLAN ACCORDINGLY.  In the event of an emergency, call 911 or 204-523-7255. 

If you need to speak with a police officer immediately or to report to police in accordance with your court ordered conditions, please call 204-523-7255. 

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Police would like to advise the public that it is a criminal offence under mischief and theft to damage or remove campaign advertisements. In addition, it's also an offence under the Canada Elections Act for any removal of advertising under Section 325 under the Canada Elections Act.

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers. 

 

August 23, 2022

Police located a suspicious person in Boissevain. The male advised he was homeless and travelling across Canada. Police escorted the male to a shelter in Brandon.

Police received a report of harassing phone calls in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

 

August 24, 2022

Police received a report of a scam phone call in the RM of Argyle where the caller stated someone had purchased a phone on her Amazon account and the caller asked her to go to certain websites to get it cancelled. The complainant doesn't have an Amazon account and did not give out any information. 

Police received a report of a theft in the RM of Prairie Lakes. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 25, 2022

Police recovered a stolen truck out of Souris, MB. The matter is still being investigated.

 

August 26, 2022

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in RM of Prairie Lakes.

 

August 28, 2022

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Relations Act in Holmfield. It was determined there was no police enforceable clause in the order.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 30, 2022

Police received a report of a missing youth in Killarney. Police located the youth safe.

RCMP received a call regarding bullying in Killarney. All parties spoken to by police.

 

August 31, 2022

Police received a report of a break and enter to a garage in Killarney. The matter was reported for information.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

 

September 1, 2022

Police received a report of mischief in Ninette. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police were dispatched to a semi rollover on Highway 23. Fire and ambulance attended. The male driver was assisted out of the vehicle and taken to Brandon Health Centre for assessment.

Police received a 911 hang up call in Killarney. A male sounded intoxicated and said he called because his wife threatened to call police and say he hit her. Police attended the residence, no signs of physical injuries on either party. Both parties said everything was fine. The matter was unfounded.

 

September 2, 2022

Police received a package from Health Canada to serve Quarantine Act tickets in Killarney.

Police received a report of mischief in Hilton. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

September 3, 2022

Police were called out to the Boissevain port of entry for a female with outstanding warrants for arrest. Police attended, executed the warrants and the female was released on an undertaking.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders and Agreements Act in the RM of Argyle.

 

September 4, 2022

Police received a report of mischief on August 23. Due to the time delay, there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request for police to help get belongings back from an ex in Deloraine. They had agreed on a date and time and there other party wasn't there. Advised complainant that this was a civil matter, no court order or agreement in place.

 

September 5, 2022

Police received a 911 call of a missing person at Adam Lake. The person was found safe.

 

September 6, 2022

Police received more reports of vehicle, ATV's and golf carts not stopping at stop sign on Road 18 and the road that crosses 253 at Pleasant Valley. The matter is under investigation.

Police were asked to do a well being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

 

September 7, 2022

Police received reports of speeding on Lakeshore Drive in Killarney. Patrols will be done in the area.

Police received a 911 call from an intoxicated male regarding uttering threats. The matter was unfounded.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

 

September 8, 2022

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders & Agreements in Cartwright.

Police received a report of break and enter and mischief in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is being investigated.

Police received a 911 call regarding a female who the caller was worried for her safety. Patrols were made and police saw the female walking in Killarney. Police arrested the female under Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and brought her to cells.

 

September 9, 2022

Police were dispatched to assist Emergency Services gain entry into a home in Killarney where it was believed a male was in medical distress. Police breached the door and a male was located intoxicated but in good health.

Police did a well being check in Boissevain. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of a Paul's Hauling truck passing/speeding in the school zone at Baldur. More patrols will be made in the area.

 

September 10, 2022

RCMP received a report of a black Freightliner tractor trailer hauling grain passed the complainant on a double solid line on highway 10 nearly running him off the road. The complainant obtained a partial plate. Police called but the complainant was unable to provide a better description or direction of travel.

 

September 11, 2022

Police received a report of disturbing the peace when 2 males in the 20's in Ninette playing loud music. Advised the males were gone and no idea where they went. Wanted to report for information.

 

September 12, 2022

Police received a report of an unlicensed driver/unregistered vehicle in Baldur. Matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police investigated a report of 2 missing children from the Town of Hartney. Police were able to locate the children and the father in New Brunswick safe and unharmed. The investigation continues.

 

September 13, 2022

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.
