Time is running out to vote in this year's Canadian Wheat Board director elections. Elections are underway in each of the odd-numbered districts, including District 9 in western Manitoba.

"I really want to stress that farmers need to take part. If you have grown any of the seven commodities listed under the Wheat Board Act, please make sure you get a ballot and take part in that democratic process," says Gerry Ritz, Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board.

"Everybody has a list of complaints and this is their opportunity to actually get out there and have a say in the future of how the Wheat Board is run. Certainly we're hopeful that there can be some changes there," Ritz says. "I think the Board is doing an adequate job. Can they do better? Absolutely."

The election administrators report the number of ballots returned so far is well below normal.

All ballots must be postmarked no later than midnight on Friday (December 3rd). Election results will be announced December 12th.
