Around 300 singers from across the province are working hard this weekend to prepare for a special concert Sunday afternoon with MB Sings.

“It’s very unique because it brings together singers from all over the province,” says Jenny Steinke-Magnus. “Actually, about half of the singers come from outside Winnipeg. It does take place in Winnipeg, but we're very excited that it is truly a Manitoba event. It's quite unique.”

This annual choral event attracts singers of all ages with junior, senior, and adult choirs.

“People have been coming for years. They come year after year because they just love being able to come and devote themselves to a weekend of intensive singing, community building, seeing friends... The experience of being in a choir is just so important for a lot of people and some people just don't have the opportunity to commit to a choir for the whole year.”

Sunday’s concert will include special guests and highlights from previous years, as MB Sings celebrates its 40th anniversary.

“Formerly known as Provincial Honour Choirs, MB Sings singers participate in two days of intensive rehearsals learning interesting and challenging repertoire, and then share what they’ve learned with families and friends in a finale concert.” - mbchoralassociation.ca

The finale concert will take place on Sunday, February 4th at the Portage Ave Church in Central Winnipeg. It will start at 3pm. Live stream tickets are available for those who cannot make it in person.
