It has been a good spring, so far, for people worried about flood problems along the Assiniboine River.

Steve Topping is with Manitoba Water Stewardship. He says the weather has been the big reason flows have been minimal in western Manitoba.

Water levels are approaching the top of the bank on the Souris River at Melita.
At Souris the river has risen 3 to 6 centimeters. flows coming from the U-S will be significant due to moisture levels in the upper Souris watershed.
Several locations in the U-S are at or above flood stage.

Precipitation is forecast for western Manitoba  this weekend.
