The Cartwright Twins are Border Baseball League champions. Ty Enns drilled a three-run homer as the Twins defeated the Morden Mud Hens 6-5 in the deciding fifth game of the final at Waldie Field. It's Cartwright's first championship in 20 years. The Twins are the fifth different team to captured the WG Coulthard trophy in the last six seasons. The Border Baseball League did not crown a champion in 2020 as the playoffs were cancelled due to COVID. Morden won in 2017; the Baldur Regals in 2018; the Winkler Whips in 2019 and the Pilot Mound Pilots in 2021.
 

The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up six runs in the bottom of the first inning and lost 7-4 to the Kansas City Monarchs at Legends Field. Raul Navarro had two hits and scored a run for the Fish who open a three-game weekend series against the American Association's West Division leading Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks tonight at Newman Outdoor Field. 
 

Zach Collaros threw touchdown passes to Nic Demski and Greg McCrae as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers held on for a 31-29 victory over the Calgary Stampeders at IG Field. Demski finished the night with eight catches for 117 yards. Backup quarterback Dakota Prukop ran for a one-yard touchdown and also threw a td pass to Rasheed Bailey. The Blue Bombers own a CFL best 10-1 record and hold down first place in the West Division. 
 

Sarah Nurse and Marie-Philip Poulin each had a goal and an assist as Canada won its preliminary round opener 4-1 over Finland at the 2022 World Women's Hockey Championship in Herning, Denmark. Meaghan Mikkelson and Blayre Turnbull also scored for the Canadians. Ste. Anne's Jocelyne Larocque chipped in with two assists. Ann-Renée Desbiens made 16 saves. Canada's next game is Saturday against Switzerland. 
 

Curtis Markusson of St. Charles is in third place heading into the final round of the Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Golf Championship in Thornhill, Ontario. Markusson was one-over par 71 Thursday and is even par for the tournament. Defending champion Charles Fitzsimmons of London has the lead at minus five. Allan McDonald of Breezy Bend was 74 yesterday and is plus 14. Adam Guenther of Elmhurst was 81 and is plus 21.
