The Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn Falcons meet the Pembina Tigers and the Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur Wildcats take on the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders this afternoon in the semifinals at the Provincial AA High School Hockey Championship in Swan Lake. The Major Pratt Trojans face the host Mountain Mustangs at 11 a.m. in the consolation final.


Jory Kulbacki had three goals and an assist as the Neepawa Tigers downed Deloraine/Hartney 8-4 in the lone Westman High School Hockey League game. Declan Vanmackelbergh assisted on all four Colts goals. 


Shane Jury scored twice as the Minnedosa Bombers defeated the Jets 4-1 in Wawanesa Thursday night in game one of their best-of-five Tiger Hills Hockey League East Division semifinal.


Wyatt Bongiovanni had two goals and an assist and Arvid Holm made 25 saves as the Manitoba Moose defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 3-2 at Canada Life Centre. Tyrel Bauer also scored for the Moose.


Three-time defending champion Kerri Einarson finished the round robin in first place in Pool A with a perfect 9-0 record at the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops. Jennifer Jones finished second in Pool B at 8-1. Kaitlyn Lawes was 5-3 and will meet Christina Black of Nova Scotia in a tiebreaker at 10:30 a.m. Meghan Walter was 3-5 in her first Scotties appearance. Clancy Grandy of BC will take on Laurie St. Georges of Quebec in the other tiebreaker. Rachel Homan of Ontario and Krista McCarville of Northern Ontario also earned playoff spots. 


Team Toba's medal count at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island is four. Manitoba athletes have won one gold and three silver medals. Competition in week one sports ends Saturday.
