Hockey Canada has invited 88 players to participate in Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team selection camp and Canada’s National Junior Team summer camp, set to take place this July at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. Winnipeg Ice forward Conor Geekie of Strathclair, defensemen Denton Mateychuk of Dominion City and Owen Pickering of St. Adolphe who play for the Moose Jaw Warriors along with Prince George Cougars goaltender Tyler Brennan of Winnipeg will attend Canada’s National Junior Team summer camp, set for July 23-27. Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson of Red Deer and Ice forward Matthew Savoie of St. Albert were also invited to the summer camp. Wheat Kings goaltender Carson Bjarnason of Carberry was the lone Manitoban named to the U-18 selection camp  Ice forward Zachary Benson of Chilliwack will also attend the selection camp which takes place July 20-23 and will include a variety of on-ice and off-ice sessions. Following the selection of the final roster on July 24, Team Canada will play a pair of games against Red and White teams from Canada’s National Junior Team summer camp.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers meet the Ottawa Redblacks tonight (6:30 p.m.) at TD Place Stadium. The defending Grey Cup champions defeated the Redblacks 19-17 last Friday at IG Field in Winnipeg's home opener. The Blue Bombers defensive unit gave up 441 total yards in their week one win. Ottawa quarterback Jeremiah Masoli completed 24-of-34 passes for 380 yards and one touchdown. Winnipeg ran the ball 19 times for only 50 yards. Bombers offensive lineman Jermarcus Hardrick will play in his 100th CFL game tonight. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes will begin a three-game weekend series against the Lincoln Saltdogs tonight at Shaw Park. The Fish are 15-15 and in fourth place in the American Association's West Division. 


Due to recent rainfall impacting course conditions, the Brandon Wildlife Association has canceled its June 19th Father's Day 3D Shoot.
