Camden Cline and Brett Opperman scored two minutes apart late in the third period as Killarney defeated Souris 6-4 in the Tiger Hills Hockey League’s first game of 2022. Cody Shackel, Jason Swyripa and Kyle Peters also scored for the Shamrocks. Joel Shultz had two goals and an assist for the Elks who rallied from a 4-1 second period deficit. Brett Arbuckle and Garret Bridges also scored for the Souris.

 

Grace Glover made 42 saves as Westman edged Yellowhead 4-3 Sunday in Shoal Lake. Kelsey Page, Addison Vines, Kamryn Cloet and Paige Kozak did the goal scoring for the Wildcats who moved within two points of the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League leading Chiefs. Brooklyn Franklin and Hayley Kolosky chipped in with two assists each for Westman.

 

Kyle Connor scored his team leading 19th goal of the season 2:39 into overtime to lift Winnipeg past Vegas 5-4. Jansen Harkins, Kristian Reichel, Paul Stastny and Andrew Copp also scored for the Jets who last played on December 19th when they beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2. Winnipeg had five games cancelled due to COVID concerns and attendance restrictions. Brandon’s Zach Whitecloud had a pair of assists for the Golden Knights.

 

Evan Cormier stopped 29 of 30 shots as Manitoba defeated the Iowa Wild 2-1. Declan Chisholm and Todd Burgess did the goal scoring for the Moose who played their first game since losing 4-1 to the Wild back on December 17th. Manitoba had two games with the Texas Stars and two games with the Abbotsford Canucks postponed due to COVID concerns.

 

The Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers added three players to their 2022 roster and they are quarterback Dru Brown, defensive lineman Cedric Wilcots and defensive back Mike Hampton. Brown ended the 2021 CFL season on the Bombers practice roster.
