Rick Bowness is the new head coach of the Winnipeg Jets. The 67-year-old Moncton native becomes the eighth head coach in franchise history and third since the teams relocation to Winnipeg. Bowness began his coaching career with the Jets as he was behind the bench for the final 28 games of the 1988-89 season. Bowness, who spent most of the past three seasons with the Dallas Stars, replaces Dave Lowry who was named interim head coach when Paul Maurice resigned in December.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers put their perfect record on the line tonight in Toronto when they face the Argonauts. The defending Grey Cup champions are 3-0 to start the 2022 CFL season. Brendan O'Leary-Orange will replace receiver Nic Demski in the Bombers lineup. Demski suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter of Winnipeg's 26-12 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in week three and was placed on the six-game injured list. The Blue Bombers defense has allowed one touchdown drive on 41 possessions this season and only allowed 12 points in the second half.


The Deloraine Royals host the Rivers Comets tonight in the lone Southwest Baseball League game. The Royals are 8-3 and one-and-a-half games back of the first place Boissevain Centennials. The Comets own a 3-6 record.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and lost 10-7 to the Sioux City Explorers. Zack Cone won it for the Explorers with a walk-off three-run homer off Goldeyes reliever Tasker Strobel. Max Murphy, Hidekel Gonzalez and David Washington homered for the Fish.
