Brandon, Steinbach and Winkler captured Baseball Manitoba's 11U, 13U and 15U A Provincial Championships on Sunday. Brandon beat host Stonewall 6-4 in the 11U final at Quarry Park. Steinbach downed Mitchell 11-2 in the 13U final in Winkler. The Winkler Nationals outscored La Broquerie 10-9 in the 15U final in Swan River.


The Winkler Renegades captured Softball Manitoba's Provincial U13 A championship at Buhler Recreation Park in Winnipeg.


The Rivers Comets defeated the Oilers 12-2 Sunday in Virden. The are two games left inthe Southwest Baseball League's regular season schedule. The Reston Rockets will host Virden and the Oak River Dodgers face the Comets in Rivers. The Boissevain Centennials, Deloraine Royals and Hamiota Red Sox have clinched the top three spots. The other five positions in the standings will be determined this week.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes plated nine runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 12-3 victory over the Sioux City Explorers at Shaw Park. David Washington and Max Murphy had two home runs each for the Fish while Logan Hill and Justin Thompson also went deep. The Goldeyes reached the All-Star break with a 28-24 record and are in third place in the American Association's West Division. Winnipeg is eight games back of the first place Fargo- Moorhead Redhawks. The American Association All-Star game goes Tuesday in Chicago.
